We All Have That One

We All Have That One

WE ALL HAVE THAT ONE person who stands by you regardless, who lifts you up, who encourages you, who pushes you, who just makes things better.

In some rare cases you have more than one.

My “ONE” is my beyond amazing husband. I am in St. Louis as I speak, (or write rather) learning and growing as a photographer, business owner, and overall human being. I miss my husband terribly but as I sit writing this, and as I almost start to want to curl up and hide because he isn’t here to be by my side to give me the confidence I need to go face things. I hear his voice “ You can do this,” “I am here for you,” “You will do great.” I refuse to let that voice go unheard.

This is my second year OWNING my own business. Anyone who knows or owns their own business knows the difficult times, the struggles, and the good times. I used to be so independent and strong and over the years, after children (YES THAT DOES MAKE YOU A SOFTY) I have somehow lost some of that. I have not always felt I could continue doing what I do. There are times people have made myself and my work feel inadequate. I have been unappreciated as an artist, as a hard worker, and at times I can honestly say I have thought maybe I just could not do it.

E.V.E.R.Y.  S.I.N.G.L.E  T.I.M.E this has occurred, my wonderful man will step in and push me all the harder. He will tell me I cannot give up, I am almost there. He is “My One”

BUT I am also one of those rare cases who has more than “One.” My other “One” is an amazing underwater photographer whose name is Jenna Martin. If you read my blogs you will know I have not known her as long. But it’s kind of one of those things where they say “when you know you know” HAHA! From the first time I met her she was SO kind and humble (even though she has EVERY reason in the world not to be!) It is unreal the amount of things we have in common, (and oddly enough how much our husbands have in common) the good and the ugly. She is a true friend and has ALL of the help and advice any true friend would have and or give. Not to mention funny as all get out! That’s how I really knew! (Insert step brothers saying “Did we just become best friends….. YEP!!!) I treasure her and admire how she has fought her way and studied and grown as a business owner, teacher, and just an awesome person!

I feel like so many underestimate just how much work goes into ONE SINGLE IMAGE regardless of your field. But really that’s life, there will always be those who just simply do not get it. What I have learned from “My ONES” Is that it’s not about the ones that don’t get it. It’s about the ones that do. It’s about making a living doing what you love. It’s about NEVER giving up, even when you want to. It’s about fighting… fighting for yourself, fighting for your passion, just simply fighting. The help and love and strength I have received from “My ONES” will not go in vain.

I am here, I will continue to grow, and Significant Moments Photography will kick BUTT!

NOW…..

It is my turn… Its my turn to be a “ONE” for someone in need
