4 STEPS TO “OWN” YOUR BUSINESS

When I first started my business, I found I would dread when people asked me what my profession was. I would feel my cheeks turn red and my stomach churn into knots. I was so nervous and for some reason felt inadequate to the title of PHOTOGRAPHER.  I simply felt as soon as the words “photographer” rolled off my lips, people would automatically assume that it is not a profession, but merely a hobby. I hated that because I wanted to be taken seriously. I felt like no one would, especially in a world filled with photographers….. particularly here in Atlanta. It took me some time to finally realize I needed to “OWN MY BUSINESS!”…. Meaning I had to start viewing myself in the right way. So I decided to share the four steps that helped me “own” my business and rock it!

1) TAKE YOURSELF SERIOUSLY :

If you do not take yourself and your business seriously no one else will. And more importantly deep down you know your potential, don’t let what you may read or hear hinder who you know you are. There may be a huge saturation of “photographers” in today’s society, but if you have confidence in your services, you will draw clients that take you and your business seriously as well!

2) MAKE YOURSELF UNIQUE :

We all have something that makes us the type of photographer we are, use that! As mentioned before there is a sea of photographers but to really “own” a business in such a saturated field, you must be different! DON’T SETTLE FOR GOOD ENOUGH!

3) KEEP MOVING :

You should ALWAYS be setting goals, learning new things, and growing your business. A business that isn’t moving is stagnant! The more goals you meet and surpass, the more things you learn along the way, the more your business grows! This all helps you earn confidence in your business and most importantly yourself! It takes time, patience, and HARD WORK but you make sure you “own” it and rock it the whole way! After all you are a photographer and you do have something special to offer!

4) DON’T BE AFRAID TO FAIL:

Take chances and make mistakes. You will learn more from failures than most successes. Always keep learning from where you fail and you can be sure to tip the odds of success in your favor.

Hope you enjoyed the article and find a way to OWN your business as well!
