Birthing Sessions… What exactly are they?
I know, I know, many of you may be feeling that birth sessions are pretty self-explanatory. But truth be told I actually receive a lot of questions, and definitely get a lot of interesting faces when they hear the words “Birthing Session”
So I am here to explain what exactly a birthing session is, and what exactly I do and capture during one.
Birthing Sessions are sessions where I am there to photograph your child being born. When MOST hear this they immediately turn up their nose, but before any noses turn up let me explain. Just like any other session out there… ANY SESSION can be photographed in a distasteful way, but ANY session can also be photographed in a beautiful, tasteful, and artistic way. This absolutely includes Birth Sessions.
The truth about labor and delivery is, even though you have been preparing for it for a little over NINE MONTHS you still cannot fully appreciate what your body will go through until that time arrives. And once it is over a lot of times you don’t remember many details. Mainly because you are working through the pain of labor. That is where I come in, the moments where your SIGNIFICANT other is gazing at you with eyes so full of love, the moments when you grab their hand or your parents hand for comfort, the moments where family members are encouraging one another to help you get through the labor process. ALL of these things are things you may never even realize happened during your labor and delivery process. I am there to capture those moments that make up your entire birth story. Most importantly I capture them in a beautiful way.
Of course depending on the client will depend on just how much they want photographed, the delivery of your child is a very intimate and personal time. So how it is documented is completely up to you. The first moments that you see the child you have carried now for almost a year are some of the most amazing memories you will ever have. So making sure that it is documented not just well, but in a tasteful and beautiful way, is what Birthing Sessions are all about.
