Choosing Your Wardrobe For Maternity Sessions
WHAT TO WEAR?!?!?!?! Again one of the BIGGEST and most frequent questions I ever get is what do I wear on my session? First and foremost I want to say that if you are not comfortable in your outfit choices then you most certainly will not have a good time on your session. WE DO NOT WANT THAT AT ALL! So comfort trumps everything else.
Now that that is out of the way, there are only a couple of tips to keep in mind when choosing wardrobe options.
1) Avoid distracting patterns or logos.
2) If you have other family in your maternity session, there is such a thing as being TOO matchy. Think more coordination and less twins. 😉
3) Keep in mind your undergarments, skin color undergarments are best, ESPECIALLY if you decide on using any chiffon gowns during your session. That’s it!
There really are no rules and the sky is the limit when it comes to wardrobe! It is completely and totally up to your taste and comfort level… Do you want loose and flowy? Long and very fitted? A tutu? (Yes tutus can be tastefully done) Or do you want TASTEFUL nude images? Do you have a ridiculously huge gown that you would never wear again? BRING IT! I LOVE unique and different articles of clothing! Have fun with it!
What about underwater? I have found that underwater what looks the best and allows the most movement, are articles of clothing that have a lot of fabric to work with. And preferably a chiffon material as other materials can become quite heavy, and we don’t want anything to become a hazard. If you have a bathing suit top and skirt that you love that’s ok too! I also want to say that I LOVE bright colors… There is no such thing as too bright.
Now I feel, is the appropriate time to discuss how much I adore headpieces! Whether they are huge and gaudy or just a simple pin somewhere… I LOVE THEM ALL. If you feel the same bring them along! HA HA I seriously just rhymed right then.
So many of you may be like…. well great now I know what I am looking for, but where can I find clothing for my session. Well one place that I adore is sewtrendy accessories. Their gowns are STUNNING! But if they don’t have what you’re looking for I’m sure Etsy, Ebay , and even amazon might! But don’t forget to look at your local stores too with an open mind of course. And if you still need help let me know! That’s what I am here for!
Now you can be even more prepared for your session with an amazing wardrobe that ROCKS! I can’t wait to work with you!
