WOO HOO the time has come for my new work! I recently had the opportunity to travel to the Bahamas, and do some amazing underwater shoots. Of course wouldn’t you just know that a hurricane would go through literally days before I got there? HAHA like I said before just call me Murphy… If it can happen it will! So anyways that put a small kink in my OCEAN underwater photography.. but no worries a pool will do just fine.
Now of course the fact that a hurricane just came through was not the only hiccup we came across. The next issue was the pool, we are in the Bahamas where it is HOT… how do we avoid PEOPLE? Well it required us getting up ridiculously early to beat the crowd… and we SUCCESFULLY made it! Believe it or not we had the entire pool to ourselves! SCORE
Now when it comes to underwater sessions I try to tell everyone to expect water to go up your nose and for your makeup to not hold up for long. No one really believes me until they get in the water and realize yes water really does go up your nose…. ALOT. Even being so Kalah did an AWESOME job! Remember too that we are in a salt water pool so those images where her eyes are open its in salt water… OUCH! What we do for the beauty of an image.
When you look at her images they look so flawless and beautiful and easy. But one thing underwater photography IS NOT would be easy. you have to let all of your air out to sink… be mindful of your arms and legs… and most important your face! We naturally want to squish our face because we try to keep water from getting into our mouth, nose and eyes. So all of these tendencies you are fighting all while trying to make it look good. so again let’s give it to kalah for rocking the crap out of this shoot. plus can I add how I just LOVE her dark skin against all of the white…. SWOON.
Lets not wait any longer… Please enjoy Kalah’s underwater images.
