Being unique
As anyone who is a fan of my work knows, I am a photographer of ALL things baby, high school seniors, and underwater. I do NOT photograph children, weddings, events etc. On OCCASION however you will see these other fields in my work from time to time because I do have clients for life and I will go to the ends of the earth for them… Even if that means photographing a wedding or their family (wink wink). OR you will see these other fields because they are my family. In this case I photographed my baby…. Well I say she is my baby but truly she isn’t a baby at all she is four.
Every year I photograph my children when they turn another year older…. WHY? Because I do not trust anyone to capture them the way I know them. Plus my standards of portraiture are extremely high, meaning I’m very picky HAHA! But aside from all of this my MAIN REASON for this blog is actually to discuss location. I do feel as a whole I see photographers using the SAME LOCATIONS all the time and I am just sick of it. If they aren’t using the same location every time, they have stolen a location from another photographer.
What’s my point… Well my point is… our state of Georgia is huge! I really believe that if you can’t find a new location to photograph at least every few shoots then it’s just pure laziness. That may seem harsh but really if you were to just pay attention to what’s around you, you would see SO many new spots! This is one thing about me as a photographer I promise you will never see from me.
As an example right in my back yard I had a random patch of beautiful small white wild flowers.
I knew as soon as I saw it I had to photograph my sweet Lyla in them. And that’s exactly what I did! They turned out so beautifully and I captured my child exactly how she is… Her perfect, picking flowers for me all the time, flower power, girly girl child that she is!
So from one photographer to another if you’re reading this… PLEASE keep your locations fresh! Just look around you… you will be shocked to see what you find! And from photographer to client or potential client, know that I want you to have images that are unique and fit YOUR personality! I take my clients images very seriously and want you to have the very best! After all… that is why you are hiring a PROFESSIONAL photographer. Also remember that when I show you the location it may not seem like a lot to you, but trust my vision even if it’s a patch of wild flowers in a back yard 😉
Now that I have passionately poured my heart out about this subject HA, please enjoy my sweet Lyla!
Please stop growing my sweet baby.
