Welcoming Baby Williams
What an amazing birth session I had yesterday. The journey with this family began a few months ago when we met at The Atlanta Baby and Child Expo. Ever since then I have been excitedly awaiting the arrival of this little prince!
A few weeks after at our pre-session meeting I was able to meet dad, and I knew right away that this soon to be mommy had an awesome support system. Well little did I know he was just one small piece of a support system many do not have. When I arrived at the hospital I met so many family members that were all so kind and supportive. One of Brittani’s (mommy to be) sisters was even making sure to keep notes of certain things for her while she went through the labor process…. I also HAVE to mention Brittani’s bear…. every soon to be mom has that “thing” that they just want during their labor journey and I thought it was so special and sweet that hers was a bear. Not just any bear… a bear she has had since childhood. It was so sentimental.
One thing I have learned about EVERY birthing client is… NOTHING is certain. You can have plans or ideas of how things will go and just as soon as you get that set in your mind, things change. Well as so many times happens, this family was thrown a curve ball. Mommy to be was not progressing almost at all for several hours. Her midwife had to break to her that more than likely a c-section was what was going to be needed. I could tell that her heart sank, but immediately EVERY single family member came to her aid. They had nothing but positive and encouraging things to say to her… It was a beautiful moment. The strength of a family is seen when not the good things are occurring but when the tuff times occur. well this families strength was so evident.
Anxiously we all awaited the midwife to come back in, only an hour from her last visit, to check mom and see if the c-section was what the verdict was. The Midwife said “well someone must have been praying cause she is a TEN!” We all let out a small but happy cheer for mom! The images of when this very moment happen are some of my very favorites… dads face says it all! Well it was fast forward from then on! Literally in a blink of an eye baby boy made his grand entrance…. and he was just BEAUTIFUL! The emotion that dad had was contagious. I found myself fighting back tears, which isn’t unusual for me haha. For those of you who know me know how much I get emotionally involved with my clients!
When it was all said and done, I was just overwhelmed with joy for this family. It was a rollercoaster for a while but in the end everyone was healthy and happy and that to me makes for a beautiful day… (or night haha) Before I share the sneak peek images I want to say….
Brittani I was absolutely amazed at how strong you are, both emotionally and physically. You were absolutely amazing! I am so glad your baby boy is here and I know you and dad will make the best parents ever! Corey (dad) I was so impressed with how you were Brittani’s true support during those last few moments of labor, and even after. You stayed right by her side, even when baby was being cleaned up. I thought that was so amazing! You both keep supporting and loving each other that way and you will tackle and conquer anything coming your way! ENJOY YOUR SNEAK PEEK IMAGES!!!!
